Consul General visits Mobile, AL [fr]
Louis de Corail made his first visit to Mobile, Alabama on September 25-26, for the opening reception of an exhibition organized by the Mémorial de la Shoah as well as meetings with local leaders.
On September 25, the Consul General participated in the opening reception of the exhibition “Filming the Camps, from Hollywood to Nuremberg: John Ford, Samuel Fuller, George Stevens” at the History Museum of Mobile in presence of Jacques Fredj, Executive Director of Mémorial de la Shoah and community leaders. Curated by historian and film director Christian Delage, the exhibition was designed, created, and distributed by the Mémorial de la Shoah (Paris, France), and made possible through the generous support of SNCF.

On the occasion of this visit, de Corail met with Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson and members of the business community, including the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce, the French-American Chamber of Commerce –Gulf Coast Chapter, and the Alabama Port Authority.
The Consul General also met with French professors of the University of South Alabama and Springhill College as well as the Alabama Bicentennial Committee. The State of Alabama will celebrate its 200th anniversary of statehood in 2019, organizing activities between 2017 and 2019 to commemorate its bicentennial.

Given the significant economic impact of Airbus in the State of Alabama, and the subsequent growing investments by French companies, the Consul General looks forward to future opportunities to return the region to leverage mutual strengths and identify new areas for French-American investment and cooperation.
