Dear French and American friends,
Following a joint agreement of the European embassies to the United States in Washington, D.C., the French consulate has assured the local chair of the European Union in absence of a Consulate of the Netherlands in Atlanta. As such, I took to initiative to organize a Europe Day celebration on May 9, in the auditorium of the Alliance Française and the Goethe-Zentrum in Midtown. I thank both organizations for so warmly welcoming us.
The evening will begin at 6pm with a keynote address by Dr. Monique Seefried, historian and Commissioner to the US WWI Centennial Commission, on « Why is the Centennial of WWI Relevant for Understanding Europe Today ? » The event will follow with a French « wine and cheese » reception. Admission is free, but as seating capacity is limited, guests are required to register online.
The eight honorary consuls of the consular jurisdiction (Charlotte, Charleston, Greenville, Hattiesburg, Mobile, Nashville, Raleigh et Savannah) will gather together at the Consulate General the first month of May. It’s an excellent opportunity for the team of the consulate staff to meet them and share about the priorities of our work and the evolution of various procedures as well as to receive feedback from the honorary consuls regarding the needs and expectations of the French nationals who live in their respective cities.
