Editorial : April 2016 [fr]
Dear French and American friends,
North Carolina is in the spotlight this month.
The Ambassador of France to the United States had a very interesting visit to Charlotte March 21-22. H.E. Gérard Araud met with political figures, including Mayor Jennifer Roberts, as well as several American economic leaders. He spoke at a reception hosted by the French American Chamber of Commerce for the Carolinas and did an interview « Charlotte Talks » on the local NPR station WFAE.
Then, SKEMA French Business School will celebrate on April 6, the 5th anniversary of the creation of its American campus, located at North Carolina State University. This celebration, which will have the opportunity to attend, will unite several French and American personalities from the University, such as Dean of the SKEMA Business School, Alice Guilhon du Hellen, as well as members of the French press.
Finally, this month’s honored French citizen is Jean-Baptiste Laporte, assistant atheltic trainer and physical therapist for the Carolina Panthers, finalist of the Superbowl 2016.
I would also like to draw your attention to two scientific and cultural events in Atlanta :
• The April 6 screening of Ice and the Sky by Luc Jacquet (director of March of the Penguins) at Emory University.
• The visit of Haitian filmmaker Raoul Peck at Emory University on April 7 as the final event of the Atlanta Francophonie Festival.
To conclude, I would like to express here our sympathy and solidarity to all of our Belgian friends who were struck by terrorism in the heart of their Capital last March 22. Our thoughts are with you.
Consul General of France
