flecheThe Consul General’s message

Dear French and American friends, this summer marks the final phase of preparing the third edition of France-Atlanta, the joint initiative of the Consulate with Georgia Tech which runs from October 25 to November 10. July will also include a celebration of our National Holiday. Finally, with my time here coming to an end, as I am preparing to return to the Foreign Ministry in Paris this summer, I wish to thank all of you for your welcome and the support that you have given me these last three years. It has been a pleasure to work with and for you. I wish my successor, Mr. Denis Barbet, an equally rewarding experience. Read.

France-Atlanta 2012

3,500 attendees participated in France-Atlanta 2010 and then again in 2011. Above all, the support and involvement of many French and Atlantan organizations have led to numerous, ambitious cooperation projects, including the strengthening of our cooperation with Georgia Tech; a deepened relationship between sister cities Atlanta and Toulouse ; an agreement (MOU) signed between Paris airports and region and the City of Atlanta to develop the two airport zones; and the artistic residencies of Pierre Gonnord, Mohamed Bourrouissa and Frédéric Druot. Encouraged by the success of the last two editions, the Consulate General of France in Atlanta and the Georgia Institute of Technology have decided to make this initiative an annual event. France-Atlanta 2012 will be held on October 25-November 10. Read.

French National Holiday 2012

While many people are packing up to leave on summer vacation, the consulate and several other French associations in the Southeast are gearing up for one of the largest celebrations of the year: the French national holiday, known as Bastille Day. In the Southeast, many activities are in the making as well, often spearheaded by our local Alliance Françaises. The consulate, as well, will host a private reception for French citizens, friends of France, and the consular corps on July 14. This event promises, as always, to be a convivial moment to thank our friends and partners and look to the future. Read.

Safety

The month of July marks the the peak of hurricane season, with the formation of hurricanes that can potentially affect the coasts of the U.S. Southeast. The risk of a hurricane in our region is high until September. Coastal areas of the Southeast region are exposed to this weather phenomenon, as is evidenced by the devastation of Katrina in Mississippi and Alabama in 2005. The climatic conditions of recent years seem to favor hurricanes, so this Consulate has launched a call for caution. Please see "your safety" of our website to find out about hurricanes and, especially, how to prepare. Read.
