Among the French films to be shown this month as part of the annual series, French Film Yesterday and Today, are four very diverse French creations, each representing a different decade, genre, and style. The event, presented by The High Museum of Art, begins Saturday February 6 at the Rich Theater. Each film will be shown Saturday evenings throughout the month of February.

The first film of the festival, Diabolique (Les Diaboliques), is Henri-Georges Clouzot’s 1955 horror film classic in which two women, driven by their hatred for the same man, plan to commit murder.

Next, director Safy Nebbou takes viewers on another mystery—this time one based on a true story—in the 2008 psychological thriller, Angel of Mine (L’Empreinte de L’Ange).

The third film in the series, Summer Hours (L’Heure d’été) is a critically-acclaimed reflection on family, identity, art and life in the postmodern, global age.

Wrapping up the series is prized French filmmaker Agnès Varda’s autobiographical documentary, The Beaches of Agnès (Les Plages D’Agnès). The film, which won a César for Best Documentary, follows the influential filmmaker known for her experimental style as she shares with the audience her images, sounds, photos, friends, and family.

All films will be projected at the Rich Theater located in the Memorial Arts Building of the Woodruff Arts Center at 1280 Peachtree St. Atlanta, GA 30309.
