Missions of the cultural service

The Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States promote the best of French arts, literature and education to cultural and academic institutions across the United States, with a strong focus on contemporary creation. It is headquartered in the former Payne Whitney residence in New York (Artistic Department) and at the French Embassy in Washington, D.C., (Education Departments). It has regional offices in ten different major American cities (Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Miami, San Francisco and Washington).

The French Cultural Service office in Atlanta develops cultural and educational projects and initiatives. Under the direction of the French Ambassador to the United States and the Cultural Advisor in New York, its mandate is to promote and sustain high-spirited exchanges between the most promising French and American artists, writers, thinkers and educators in the jurisdiction: Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.

Programs, projects or initiatives benefitting from the support of the Cultural Office, in conjunction with the Embassy of France in the United States are usually also supported by the non-profit partner FACE and CulturesFrance.
