The FEMA, Federal Emergency Management Agency, is a governemental agency that helps americans face disaster. The primary mission of the Federal Emergency Management Agency is to reduce the loss of life and property and protect the Nation from all hazards, including natural disasters, acts of terrorism, and other man-made disasters, by leading and supporting the Nation in a risk-based, comprehensive emergency management system of preparedness, protection, response, recovery, and mitigation.

In case of crisis, shelters will open in every damaged states. List of shelters that will be opened can not be known in advance. That’s why it is necessary to visit the website of the FEMA of your state in case of crisis to familiarize yourself with the list.

In the situation where you are unable to use Internet. Instructions regarding evacuation and shelter information for residents and visitors will be broadcast widely by radio and television stations. A shelter information telephone number would also be broadcast at that time.
